We provide assistance for loss of wages, medical bills, mortgage or rent payments, groceries, and other related expenses—so patients and their families can focus on healing, not just surviving.

  • Breakaway From Cancer’s “Guiding Light Grant Program” provides financial assistance to U.S. citizens in the equine community currently battling cancer.

  • Breakaway From Cancer defines “equine community” as individuals who own a horse(s); or are involved in equine activities.

  • Below are some examples of equine activities - but are not limited to:

    Show producers

    Livestock contractors

    Competitors

    Equine organization members

    Ranchers

  • To apply for our Guiding Light Grant Program, the Applicant must be a U.S. citizen currently receiving treatment for a cancer diagnosis or the legal guardian of a minor U.S. citizen currently receiving treatment for a cancer diagnosis.

    We’re incredibly grateful — and excited — to share that Breakaway From Cancer has received an overwhelming number of applications this year. Because of your support, we’ve been able to help so many families, with eight Guiding Light recipients in 2025 alone.
