Tiffani Nichols

Tiffani’s “𝒮𝓉𝑜𝓇𝓎”.

Miley Cyrus sang, “Ain’t about how fast I get there, ain’t about what’s waiting on the other side, it’s the climb.” Tiffani Nichols, a critical care nurse, wife, and mother, has never shied away from a climb.

Tiffani started riding horses when she was just 8 years old. When she decided she wanted to jump feet-first into barrel racing, her parents told her she would have to make it work with one of the horses they already had. So, away she went. She learned, she watched, and she turned her mare into a gritty little barrel horse—gritty enough to carry her all the way to the Mid-States Rodeo Association Finals.

A few years ago, Tiffani was competing at a barrel race when things took an unexpected turn. The arena ended at a wall, and after laying down a solid run, Tiffani’s horse decided to go left while she thought they were headed right. The result was a collision with the wall that left Tiffani with a broken neck, a lacerated liver, and several broken ribs.

But after healing and months of rehabilitation, Tiffani climbed again. It took time, determination, and plenty of hard work, but eventually, she was back in the arena and back to running barrels.

Now Tiffani is facing her next climb: Multiple Myeloma.

Tiffani knows there is currently no cure for Multiple Myeloma, so her goal is remission. She is undergoing chemotherapy and has a bone marrow transplant planned for early next year. She hopes the transplant will give her body the nudge it needs to fight back and, ultimately, find remission.

Tiffani has never been afraid of a climb. She has faced difficult roads before, and she knows what it takes to keep putting one foot in front of the other. This time is no different.

She’s already looking ahead, ready to see what is waiting for her on the other side.
